Older adults might reduce fall risk through exercise

Data from 25 countries showed exercise may help older adults reduce their risk of falls, and that using a variety of exercises may have the biggest impact regardless of fall risk, researchers reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. The analysis of 59 studies found "high certainty" that exercise may reduce fall rates by 23% for adults ages 60 and older, and that using balance and functional workouts with resistance training were associated with a 34% lower risk of falls, compared with not exercising.
