Advocacy Alert! Requesting Support Today! HB 1121 and SB 2288

There are 2 important bills to update on and request support of:

1.  HB 1121 Healthcare Workers Assault Bill - Senate Judiciary hearing was yesterday, and they voted a do not pass.  Can you reach out to colleagues and urge them to contact their Senator and urge a do pass?  This could be voted on tomorrow.  Below is a message to use:

Please consider voting yes on HB 1121, the healthcare worker assault bill. 

The number and severity of assaults in our care facilities is rising quickly and we need your help. 

HB 1121 equalizes the penalties for assaulting a healthcare worker in a healthcare setting. Currently, it is a class C felony to knowingly assault a healthcare worker, but ONLY in our hospital emergency room. HB 1121 would include healthcare workers throughout a healthcare facility.   

2. SB 2288 - Nursing Only Challenge Grant Bill - there is a committee hearing tomorrow 3/23 at 8:45 in House Appropriations - Brynhild Haugland Room - submit testimony before 0800 3/23

Also - SB 2344 – new nursing loan forgiveness passed – $20,000 per person over 5 yrs for a certain number of nurses; we already have this for behavioral health – NDNA will put on social media when signed into law!
