North Dakota will NOT be receiving any additional allocations of nirsevimab from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program. The VFC Program provides immunizations, including nirsevimab, for children ages 18 and younger who are Medicaid-eligible, uninsured, underinsured or American Indian/Alaskan Native. ND HHS redistributed limited VFC nirsevimab doses in the state to ensure equitable distribution. Locations with VFC nirsevimab doses are listed on the ND HHS immunization website.

Healthcare providers who have nirsevimab on hand are encouraged not to hold doses, but to administer doses now to eligible children according to the guidance below. The 50 mg presentation is in greater supply than the 100 mg presentation, so healthcare providers are encouraged to immunize children before they weigh 5 kg or more and need the 100 mg presentation.

Due to supply constraints for nirsevimab, it is likely not practical nor feasible to allow borrowing between VFC and private supply. VFC nirsevimab should be prioritized for VFC-eligible children.

Healthcare providers who see pregnant women are encouraged to stock and recommend maternal RSV vaccination (Abrysvo™). If unable to stock Abrysvo™, providers are recommended to establish a referral relationship with a pharmacy or other healthcare provider in the community.
