Measles Updates
Measles HAN: Please see the attached HAN for more information on measles ongoing outbreaks and recommendations for healthcare workers. This HAN has been previously emailed out.
Ongoing Measles Outbreaks: As of March 11, 2025, 223 cases of measles have been identified in Texas. The majority of these cases (174) have occurred in children, 29 have been hospitalized, and all of the cases aside from 5 have been in unvaccinated individuals. There has been one death in an unvaccinated school age child. The outbreak has spread into New Mexico which is now up to 33 cases, all but one have been unvaccinated and had one death in an adult. This outbreak has likely spread to Oklahoma as well who is now reporting two probable cases connected to this outbreak.
Measles Exposures: There have been multiple other measles exposures throughout the US including a large airport in the US. States who previously haven’t had cases are now reporting cases. At this time North Dakota has not had a measles case but healthcare facilities should remain vigilant in diagnosing rash illnesses and working to improve MMR vaccination rates.
